Betz Family Winery “Clos de Betz” 2013
Columbia Valley, Washington
Inky colored, it has terrific and classic notes of plums, black raspberry, violets, espresso and scorched earth to go with full-bodied richness, lots of fruit and mid-palate depth, and an overriding sense of elegance and purity that carries through the finish.
Alban Vineyards Viognier 2014
Central Coast, California
Lots of ripe peach, flowers and exotic honey, it's rich, unctuous and concentrated on the palate, with fabulous purity. It's really a terrific drink.
Big Table Farm Pinot Noir 2014
Barely sold off the farm get some while you can. Green peppercorn and savory herbs are apparent immediately on the nose. The fruit here is perfectly balanced by the stems and structure. The sweet toasted oak really polishes the edges of the wine making it glide across the palate. This wine strikes a perfect balance with red grapefruit and orange zest aromatics supporting the generous cherry and red currant flavors.
Alain Grangeon Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2014
Not quite good enough to call it Cristia CDP but way too good to sell off or declassify what do you do? Make a new wine and we all are the winners because of it, Fennel, incense and cherries, with a soft, forward, supple, fruit filled, cherry charm, still young but really going places.
